In a week where brand purpose has once again taken centre stage on the Croisette, it was a rare panel part Hollywood, part boardroom that delivered one of the festival’s more unusual sessions.

Reese Witherspoon, actor and founder of the media company Hello Sunshine, appeared alongside Kory Marchisotto, Chief Marketing Officer at e.l.f. Beauty, to launch a new initiative designed to give teenage girls a platform to speak, create and lead.

The setting was the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity the annual swirl of C-suite cocktails and advertising executives, but the message was clear: young women aren’t waiting to be handed a seat at the table. They’re building new ones of their own.

The pair unveiled Sunny, a Gen Z-focused sister brand to Hello Sunshine, developed in collaboration with an advisory board of more than 20 teenage girls.
